  • Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed welcomed British MP Douglas Mann at the camp of freedom fighters located at Benapole. An hour long discussion was held between them.

  • Two battalions of Pakistani Army attacked the main camp of the freedom fighters located at the village Kagajpukur in Jessore. After a 6-hour long heavy fight, the freedom fighters took alternate measures to protect the areas near Benapole Custom Colony and check post. During this, 16 freedom fighters were martyred including Nayak Subedar (Senior Warrant Officer) Mojibul Haque of EPR. To the contrary, 50 Pakistani soldiers were killed and many were injured.

  • As 200 Pakistani soldiers started approaching Mahalchhari from Rangamati, Captain Kader and Lt. Mahfuz took action to prevent them.

  • As the Pakistani forces took the possession of Feni, the scattered freedom fighters took shelters in different parts of the Indian border.

  • The battalion commander of Pakistani forces visited Laksam. At a conference of judicious residents of Laksam city, he threatened to take revenge saying, “In last two days, your freedom fighters caused us much destruction. We will do the same.” Then the Pakistani forces were on an unprecedented brutal genocidal rampage.

  • The Pakistani forces approached Kurigram from Tista and Lalmonirhat with heavy gunshot. The freedom fighters had to retreat their positions due to the massive attack of the barbarian Pakistani forces with heavy weapons.

  • At Naogaon, Sirajul Islam of Mohanpur village, Abdur Razzak of Makharpur village, Bachchu and Mamtazuddin of Dashpaikar village were martyred by gunshot of Pakistani forces. A renowned music expert of Naogaon, Ustad Manik Chakravarty, specially certified by Maurice College of Lucknow and a resident of Balihar Union; and Alimuddin Kha Minon, a prominent social worker of Madhaimuri village, and Alim were martyred by the Pakistani forces in two separate incidents.

  • At the Commons conference in United Kingdom, member of Labor Party and former secretary of Financial Aid committee Peter Shore said, “The way Pakistan Government is treating East Bengal is totally unscrupulous and brutal by all means. Neglecting such oppression and tyranny will be disgraceful. I am requesting the Labor Party to raise this issue boldly and to put pressure on the government to stop all kinds of financial and military aid to West Pakistan immediately.”

  • At Sylhet, the independence opposers carried out a procession in the city initiated by Sylhet Peace Committee. At that procession, different slogans wishing long life of Pakistan, Yahya Khan, and threatening India and its followers were given away. At a conference followed by that procession, the leaders of peace committee delivered igniting speech pledging to drive the criminals (freedom fighters) away and so thus to keep up the solidarity of Pakistan.

  • Pakistani government decided to shut the Deputy High Commission of Pakistan in Kolkata with effect from 12 o’clock of April 26 and at the same time asked the Indian government to shut the Deputy High Commission of India in Dhaka.

  • In Dhaka, A.S.M. Solaiman of Krishak Sramik Party (the Peasant and Labor Party), Sayeed Md. Mostafa Al Madani of Nejam-e-Islam, former M.N.A Rahimullah Chowdhury and former MP A. Abdus Sobhan expressed in separate statements that, the patriots and armed military dashed India’s endeavors to meddle with the internal affairs of East Pakistan. We are proud of our armed forces. They urged the people to cooperate with the armed forces to destroy the intruders.
